Tonopah Young Eagles - May 24th, 2008
Jim Bonelli, Mike Smith, and Terry Frazier traveled to Tonopah Friday to
discuss particulars for the May 24th Tonopah Young Eagles event. It looks
like this will be a memorable event for our club (remember the enthusiasm
at Pahrump?). The kids are excited, and we have exceptionally strong community
support. Certainly worth the extra effort to travel up there. We will be
part of their Jim Butler day festivities with a parade, street dance (Friday
night), and all sorts of activities. Anyone want to ride on the Aviation Club
Float? The event is cosponsored by their High School aviation club; a very
active and impressive group.
If you are able to fly young eagles, please give Mike Smith a call
(702-565-4010) or email (mwsmith2@cox.net). We have free rooms (1 night)
donated for pilots and support (though early reservation is important due to
limited rooms available). It looks like we will get some support for fuel.
Details are still being worked out, but the plan is to have pilots leave home
base full on their dime (quarter now?), and have them leave Tonopah full paid
for by event sponsors. Bottom line is that the pilot would only pay for one way
to Tonopah. Pilot meeting planned for 8:00AM.
Hope you can be there!
