Presidents Corner June 2007:

The Pahrump Young Eagles rally was a great success.  Chapter 1160 hosted the
event on May 19th with our support.  Together we flew 93 kids from the
CalNev airport in great Pahrump weather.  Mike Smith organized ten or so
pilots, Jim Bonelli played tower and Charlie and his squad organized the
ramp.  The lack of a taxiway was occasionally a challenge, but everyone
cooperated to pull it off safely.  Jan Bonelli, Gail Smith, Robyn Peterson
and Linda Frazier worked with the 1160 folks to organize the kids and
paperwork.  The pictures were a big hit too.  Hope you were there to see the
smiles on the kids faces.  It made it all worth while.  Thanks to all who
volunteered their time, money and efforts.

We held our May meeting at the new Bonelli / Carlson hangar at the Henderson
airport.  The BYO picnic filled everyone’s belly and allowed plenty of time
for hangar flying (in their beautiful new hangar) before the meeting.  At
the meeting we had extensive discussion on the Air Academy candidate
situation.  Looks like we won’t have a candidate this year.  The best we had
was 11 days too young – still a good candidate for next year.

We also had a report on the future of Discover Aviation by Mike Perger.  It
looks like it won’t happen unless an anchor sponsor is identified very soon.
Dewey Peterson had some ideas.

The next meeting will be held at North town (VGT) on June 13th.   Please be
thinking about participating on the Nominating Committee.  We need to have
it up and running soon.  I plan to give a short presentation on the Superior
Engine build school.

See you there,

Terry Frazier

Random thoughts from the Webmaster:

Everyone looks forward to the introduction of next years automobiles.  It’s quite natural.

I think it’s time to revamp the Website.  Make it more user friendly, jazz it up a bit and

Generally make it something you enjoy “clicking “ on to.  However, I need more input from the group.

What is one thing that you would like to see?  More pictures?  More airplanes?  NL?

I will reward your ideas by making them alive and well on our website.

Thanks, Jim.
