Presidents Corner August 2008
Sorry for the late posting. We are having too much fun enjoying the cool weather up here in Northern Michigan. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer.
Linda and I had a fun time at Oshkosh this year. The best and most unusual thing about AirVenture 2008 was the great weather. Roger Hansen and Peter Trembley attended along with Linda and I. I’m sure there were more members there, but we missed ya! Overall attendance was lower than last year, but about on par with 2006. I found a few new gizmos, but mostly the vendors seem to be refining existing products. Lots of new LSAs. One of the hot items was a free SPOT for signing up for a years service (see: http://www.findmespot.com/Home.aspx).
There was lots of buz about the new FAA interpretation and guidance on the 51% amateur builder rule. The comment period has been extended to September 30th so it’s not too late to get your input in.
Remember that the August meeting has been cancelled. We are looking forward to Fred Wilson’s presentation on post crash survival scheduled for the September 10th meeting at Henderson.
Also, be sure to mark your calendar for the October 18th Hangar Party/Chapter Picnic at E/D row hangars at Henderson. We are planning a late afternoon start with lots to do in addition to eating of course.
See you in September,
Terry Frazier
