Secretary:Keith Hopkey
Treasurer:Brian Prinzavalli
Director VGT:Armin Tuma
Director BLD:Glenn Smith

Presidents Corner, February 2008:

We had a great time at our January meeting at North Las Vegas. We thanked the ’06 and ’07 Young Eagles ground operations volunteers with a nice engraved plaque, and the Chapter volunteers (Web Master, Flight Advisor, Technical Counselor, Young Eagles Coordinators, Editor, and Officers) with certificates provided by the EAA. Jim and Jan topped the event off with some great ice cream and supporting goodies. Thanks again to Jan and Jim Bonelli.

Our meeting also included the election of our 2008 Directors (see list below), and extended discussion surrounding the February 2nd Courtney Children’s Foundation Young Eagles event scheduled for Henderson. Due to expected high transient traffic that weekend and related safety concerns, we decided to postpone the event until the fall.

Our February meeting will be held at Glenn Smith’s Hangar at the Boulder City Airport on the 13th. I have scheduled a visit by Bruce and Brian Banks to show us some of their LED experimental aircraft lighting products. Also, Tom Donaldson plans to be there to discuss Chapter activities we might want to have in conjunction with the Clark County Aviation Dept. 50th (?) anniversary celebration this year (maybe an April Young Eagles?).

Don’t forget about the Mesquite Flyout scheduled for February 16th. See Reminder below.

Also please note: We will meet before the February meeting for dinner at a new restaurant called Evan's Old Time Grill at around 6PM. I haven't been there, but the address is 1129 Arizona Street in Boulder City.

See you there,

Terry Frazier

2008 Chapter 1300 Directors (in addition to the officers listed last month):
Henderson – Glenn Carlson
Boulder City – Glenn Smith
North Las Vegas – Armin Tuma

Mesquite Flyout
The fly-out to Mesquite that was postponed late last year due to scheduling conflicts has been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16th (back-up date is Feb. 23rd in case of poor weather).
The Oasis Golf Club in Mesquite is a little known jewel in the desert. Long-time local pilot, Tom John, vouches for the place, having taken friends there several times. The restaurant in the clubhouse has great food and great service, and they will make special arrangements to send vehicles for as many as 15-20 pilots and flying companions. A quality experience is further guaranteed by the fact that the restaurant owner is Tom's brother.

Grab your favorite flying companion and join us for a unique experience, on Saturday morning, Feb. 16th (plan to be on the ground, tied down, and ready for transportation between 8:45 and 9:00 a.m.), for a breakfast run to remember. If you arrive late, call Terry Frazier at 702-278-0273 for pickup.
